Momentus Power Hitter – Build Your Golf Muscles For Big Drives

Published by admin under Timed Finals

A typical modern driver weighs approximately 250-280 grams (200g head, 50-80g shaft). The Momentus Power Hitter weighs in at a whopping 500g, twice the weight of your normal driver. This has a couple significant effects on your golf swing: 1) you cannot possibly get your hands/arms overly involved in the golf swing without horribly slicing the golf ball 2) swing this 50 times a day, and I assure you, your swing speed will increase at least a little bit!

For this review, I have the 310 gram version of the club. This is intended for users with swing speeds between 110 and 120 mph. Mine hovers around 105, but I figured, let’s shoot for the higher end of the spectrum than be in the upper end of the lower weight model (Power Hitter 275 – 85 mph-110mph).

The Momentus Power Hittter 310 club certainly has a distinct appearance. The bright orange club head cannot be mistaken…don’t expect to slip this out onto the course without people knowing you’re hitting a power hitter. That being said, the way I was hitting the Power Hitter, taking it onto the actual course may not be an unthinkable idea. Though…I suspect after 18 holes I’d be pretty wiped out.

Given all the weight, the club is very balanced. Weight is distributed through the shaft and club head, so you do not feel as if you’re swinging around a brick on the end of a stick. At impact, you can definitely feel when you have hit the center of the club face.

Ok, so the Instruction DVD suggests that you hit 20 balls with the Power Hitter, and then 10 with your own Driver. So I did. Picked up the Nickent 4DX driver and wow, it felt like a feather. Couple practice swings…can’t even really feel the club, it’s verylight. Couple swings at the ball, god knows where they went. But then I started feeling the weight of the driver again. Pow, couple absolutely crushed balls out on the range. I’m really not even sure how far they travelled, they were so far past where I normally hit the ball.

I go through the routine again, 20 Power Hitters, 10 of my own. I ended up hitting 60 Power Hitters, and 30 of my own balls in this first session. To say I was sweaty would be a gross understatement. I looked like I ran through a Florida thunderstorm. First session, I am pleased. It definitely keeps you on plane, and forces you to get your core involved. You cannot manipulate the club head with your hands or smaller muscles and hope to expect to hit this thing.

Overall the Momentus Power Hitter does everything that it is supposed to do. Just don’t expect to fix all of your swing faults.

How Plyometrics Increase Vertical

Published by admin under Timed Finals

It is common among basketball players to continuously strive to become better in dribbling, jumping, offense, and defense as well as to always improve their agility and speed. Therefore, your training exercises will be focused on improving these different skills and characteristics, and most importantly to increase vertical.

It is important for your workouts to target certain muscles that are used to improve your jump. And two of the muscles are the calf and quadriceps muscles. The power in the jump comes from the quadriceps muscles that are found in front of the thigh. And the calf muscles are responsible in lifting you off the floor. Indeed, being able to target these muscles in your workouts could surely increase your jump.

One of the kinds of exercises that basketball players do is weight training which is for increasing strength. Remember that in order to improve your jump, you must also increase your strength.

In weight training, you can target your quadriceps muscles by doing the leg press workout, leg extensions, and wall sits. The leg press workout is done on a leg press machine. Here, you would be pushing weights upwards or outwards while maintaining control of your body. On the other hand, leg extensions are done while seated flat on a chair or bench. With the leg extensions, you would be lifting weights upwards. For the wall sit, weights are no longer used since your body weight is used. Begin by sitting against the wall until your quadriceps muscles are at a 90-degree angle and are parallel to the floor. Stay in this position until you start to feel a burning sensation. And if you want, you can put additional weights on your lap. Try doing these exercises in order to improve the strength of the quadriceps muscles.

To target the calf muscles, you could do toe raises and running sprints. For the toe raises, start with standing against the wall and keep your balance. Using only one foot, push your body up and down. Remember to concentrate your weight onto the balls of your feet. Just continue doing toe raises until your muscles start to burn. Running sprints are quicker than running. When doing running sprints, never forget to rest in between sprints. The distance for running sprints is usually 400 to 800 yards and the rest in between these sprints should be walking for twice that distance.

These are some examples of exercises that can target the muscles which are vital in increasing your jump. Aside from weight training, many athletes also do plyometric training. Plyometric training improves your agility, strength, power, and speed. Plyometrics enables your muscles to produce a huge amount of force in a short time. Many athletes do plyometric training in order to improve their jump.

You can do different forms of exercises to effectively increase your jump. To help you learn more information about how to increase vertical, get a copy of the Jump Manual. With this manual, I learned about the various effective exercises and how to properly execute them.

Free Soccer Drills:Killer Tips On Heading

Published by admin under Timed Finals

Free soccer drills

Here’s a really simple way to control the ball to pass or shoot and it is the heading skill that can be mastered through free soccer drills. A variety of soccer exercises are involved in the proper execution of this skill.

What part of the ball should be applied force by the player? Two important questions are which part of the head applies force and What force do other parts produce? Answering these questions correctly will help the player to hit the ball where he wanted to.

For example, if players want to head the ball towards the ground, they’ll strike the ball with the downward motion of the forehead. How far one wants to hit the ball decides the force at which the ball is stroked.

In Soccer Practice, the position of the ball with respect the player decides the heading technique. Take the case of the defense players, they generally head the ball high and wide , away from the goal.

Soccer Drills

On the other hand, midfield players head the ball more precisely to the attacking players.

When it comes to heading the ball, many players need to overcome the fear of being struck in the face by the ball. And that’s why the free soccer drills uses a sponge type ball for teaching heading skills.

To reduce fear, some cases mandate to use a slightly larger and lighter ball like a beach ball. While teaching heading skills, Coaches usually position the players on their knees to ensure proper balance of the lower body. That allows the players to concentrate on the action of the upper body.

When the players are skilled enough in heading the ball in kneel down positions, they can move on to the next level – heading in the standing position. This is the stage in soccer coaching where they will begin to learn about the contributions the lower body makes to heading.

The next thing the players do is tapping the ball with the other player , first in a fixed position then in motion. Players are challenged to jump and head the ball with the help of a one-foot take off, When they are more confident. The players can also be challenged with heading drills in a game-like defensive pressurized environment.

To add more structure and to develop intentional play, one should refine the heading skills.

One should really consider incorporating free soccer drills because it does not use the ball initially. Moving skills of the players are improved without the ball and that increases their confidence. Once they demonstrate competence with movement, add the ball to increase the challenge.

Free Soccer Drills:How To Head The Ball Effectively

Published by admin under Timed Finals

Free soccer drills

If you are like me, you probably know that in performing free soccer drills, dribbling a soccer ball is one of the most thrilling aspects of any soccer game. One of the basic faults that players make when dribbling a soccer ball is that they focus more on the ball and don’t know what is happening around them.

I will share with you a drill that has often been used repeatedly during soccer practice to teach young players to dribble a soccer ball because they love it. Identification of space and maximum utilization of the same is being taught to the students.

The biggest hurdle faced by the coach is to make the young soccer player aware of his environment while having control of the ball under his feet.

This is one drill that is often used to teach players to keep their heads up while dribbling, and it has always been fun for the players along with teaching valuable skills.

Soccer Drills

This drill makes the player to get a feel of the ball and the space around it so that they can use the space rather mundane soccer exercises which makes the player go around the cones.

1.On an average start by marking out a square of size 20 * 20 yards (change the square size depending upon number of players and age).

2.Give the ball to each half of the players and position them on one side of the square. The one half of the players are called as attackers.

3. Next, have the other half of the players spread out and cover the square. This half of the players is identified by the name Crab.

4.The hands are used by the crabs to support themselves after sitting down. To walk around the players are allowed to use their hands and feet only.

In free soccer drills we can have good fun and yet teach a lot of important points of dribbling the ball.

Upon the coaches’ whistle, all the players dribble the ball to the opposite side and stop the ball on the line opposed to them. “The Crabs” try and get the ball from the Attackers and when they do so, the Attacker becomes a Crab. When all the crabs are eliminated and only one attacker is left, he is declared as the winner and the game is concluded.

The Crab learns the importance of teamwork by refusing space to the attackers and tries to take the ball away from them; it’s really a win-win situation in soccer coaching.

This is the simple and yet effective way of teaching the young players to dribble the ball with their heads up, to cross the defenders and avoid bumping into each other.

The final inference is every player has the ability to be more alert, to react quickly and to run faster. The free soccer drills will make the players achieve better acceleration and to take decision making faster.

Soccer Coaching: How To Preach The Philosophy

Published by admin under Gymnastics

Soccer coaching

Here’s a really simple way to remember some of the key soccer coaching factors that are required in determining your team philosophy and run with it. This philosophy can be applied to your youth team with relative ease as it is easier than you think.

There are 6 factors; parents, coaches, excitement, selection, time and success windows which are required for an effective youth coaching philosophy.

Consistent Parental Guidance: During soccer training parental influence is very important for the mental and physical progress of your players, mainly on the match day. It’s not enough just to provide the parents with the brochure, “parental responsibilities” at the beginning of the term. Arrange for regular meetings with them so that the key points can be repeated and concerns shared.

Upcoming soccer coaches: Your philosophy should emphasize the importance of development of the coaches along with the players. The kid’s parents can also be considered for soccer coaching. They would be most suitable and a great option for the future.

Soccer Coaching

Selection: The greatest reason for players with great soccer skills to lose interest is non-selection. According to studies, players say they would rather get selected for a bad team than not getting selected for a good team. Therefore, with the help of a rational selection system all the player could be given equal game time.

Time: The session should be started on time and the parents should also be told to be on time. When you define the start times and finish times clearly, it helps you deliver the session effectively.

Excitement: Is it imperative that every soccer coaching session has to be enjoyable? Make an effort to make each session an enjoyable one but do not forget that it is not possible to each session like that. So adopt “excitement” as a substitute for this.

At the time of training the kids, it is valid that coaches face problems with ideas on how to make training interesting. As such, the biggest hurdle that the coaches face is with regard to the creativity aspect of coming up with fun drills every now and then.

In soccer drills, it is a good idea to keep increasing the level of difficulty every time. The best way of doing this is to get started with a game, look for a problem, and then rectify it with a drill.

Success windows: Make an effort to create a success window for the season as an important part of your training. This means that you must determine a lower limit and an upper limit of time with a view to measure the level of success that needs to be achieved.

For example; time frame of minimum four and maximum eight weeks. This can be achieved for both the team members and the individual members.

In your interest, embrace a soccer coaching philosophy like this become a part of the development phase of your kid’s training once the basics have been covered. If you would like more such knowledge and resources, subscribe to our youth soccer coaching community.

Wing Chun Dummy Revealed

Published by admin under Timed Finals

The Wing chun dummy is the cornerstone of any wing chun training routine. The dummy sequences are moves to use against an attacker. The idea is to take the concepts of wing wing chun training and apply them to this the dummy. I wont go into the full details of every move on the dummy but I’ll explain its beginnings. You line up against the dummy in you wing chun stance. Your objective of course is to get into contact range or where you are wrist on wrist with the dummy. -i.e bridge the gap this is done by what is called an entry technique. Where you are in a left guard positing –take a half to the right and next you will make what is like a little hop to make up the distance between you and the opponent (dummy). Attack on a 45 degree angle. This is crucial. This hop or entry bridges the gap. During this move rase your front leg bending at the knee. This is to protect you from any front kick and with your left lead guard you strike out a bil sao or a strike- making sure it is a forward motion out to the right but not too far right so it does not go past your left shoulder.. your rear guard stays where it is.

As you land you should land on the ball of your left foot—your left hand strikes past the lead arm of the dummy then strikes out to make contact –finding your opponents arm . Now lets go over this in a few more details. Land on the ball of you feet- this allows for greater movement. Also the left guard goes out seeking to make contact with the opponents front guard. In wing chun once you make contact with the opponent you can then dictate terms and attack- this is the benefit of chis sao. As you can see the concepts of wing chun interweave with each other and its practical application is very scientific, purposeful and lethal.
