Do I have to get a 4.0 to get into a good college?

foshoyo asked:

Okay so I’m a little worried right now because i am a sophomore, and i currently have an 85% in math, and 84% in English. everything else is an A- which also worries me. Theres only 3 weeks left of 1st semester. 2 weeks of normal school, 1 week of finals. If i can’t raise both of those B’s to A’s, will it look really bad on college apps? I’m going for the UC’s.

Extra Curricular: will these help?

-I am very involved with sports, I’m currently on the JV basketball team, and have played in different leagues throughout the past few years. Also looking forward to track or badminton.
- I am also involved in Model United Nations, and am considering starting a few clubs at school.
- I do volunteer work, and am planning to do volunteer work the whole summer, and maybe even get a job.
- I am also very involved with my church.

Will these extra curicular activities make up for the 2 B’s that i have? and if anybody has any tips for college, please let me know. thank you :)

Which law school best prepares you to become a sports agent and can offer you connections to the industry?

left_venk asked:

I have looked up quite a few times on the Internet, but I kept receving Marquette’s Law school pop up on the search results, they are not even in the top 100 in terms of law schools, but they are 3rd in top tier and have the only National Sports Law Institute. The other one - Loyola in Los Angeles has a sports law institute also, but that’s about it.

Good College?

Purple Pear asked:

I’m finishing up freshman year at my highschool and already worrying about college- haha. Well I’m just really worried about my grades. Because in Jr. High I got all A’s and had a 4.0 GPA but lately my grades have gotten worse. My grades currently are:
Art : A (95)
English: A (90)
Earth Science: B(86)
Global History: A (97)
French: B (85)
Math 2: C (72)

Is it still possible for me to get into a good college? I haven’t taken my finals or Regents yet so I guess the grades could alter. But I’m still really concerned about my grades. I know getting accepted to college is about more than grades but I’m on top of everything else… I play sports, I’m part of a lot of clubs and the school paper and do a lot of community service. But then also my dad wants me to be on National Honor Society, Honor Role and get into a schoool like Harvard or Yale! I’m just really stressing these grades. Can I still do better and get into a good college?

whats the difference between college and tech school?

boris t asked:

Grading is based on projects, homework, worksheets, tests, finals, quizzes, and participation points. Some courses last a month, and are sped through. Classes are 1.5 hours, with 10min breaks. there are no electives, and little diversity. Teachers are boring, unenergetic, and little to no personality. Tutoring is available. Your with the same group of students all day. 4 classes a day. Most of the People smoke, including teachers. Most of the students are trashy, or rednecks. not too many girls, and are not very ladylike, and unnattractive. 50 students in the whole school. The environment is more like get you in, and expecting you to be a workoholic, no matter the expense. No sports, activities, or any fun stuff.
