Long-time leader Ceol Rua battled back after the last flight for Ruby Walsh but the 2-1 favorite was not for beating and held on by a head.
Walsh also had to accept second-fiddle on Are Ya Right Chief, who could not quite reel in Barry Geraghty and Golanbrook (5-4 favorite), despite finishing with a rattle, in the Santa’s Small Helper Maiden Hurdle.
Golanbrook looked well in command after De Dodger fell but he was all out at the line to adhere on by a short-head.

Oliver Brady’s consistent kid appreciated the ease in class having finished third in a Grade 3 at Fairyhouse, digging deep close home to beat Bat Masterson by a head.
Ludo Et Emergo also made all to claim the Christmas Voucher Gowran Golf Shop Maiden Hurdle.
Sent off a totally unconsidered 50-1 chance, Andrew Lee’s debutant came under pressue coming to two out but he never looked like being headed and eventually won by two-and-three-qurter-lengths from Don Leone.
Knockbrack Vic confounded chances of 25-1 to win the Gowran Park Thanks All Customers Mares Handicap Hurdle, while the 26th Jan 2012-Thyestes Day At Gowran Park INH Flat Race went to Willie Mullins ‘ 2-1 fave Primroseandblue.
