Dallas Cowboys are undoubtedly one the most loved and hated teams in sports history. Are they the most hated?

Published by admin at 4:24 am under Football (American)

msfgabe asked:

Are they the Number 1 most hated team of all-time or are there other sports teams that rank above them? If their was a list of the most hated teams what would it look like? Id like to get everyones opinion out there on this subject.

Their the most hated because they’ve claimed themeselves the Americas Team which their aren’t. Keep in mind that the Steelers in the 70’s was going 2 be called the America’s Team but, Art Roodell said that they’ve rather be called a Pittsburgh team instead. And this is how the Cowboys originally got the name america’s team; Bob Ryan, the Vice President and editor-in-chief of NFL Films, coined this for the Cowboys in 1979. After preparing and editing the team’s 1978 season highlight film he had to come up with a title for the film.[4] He was quoted as saying:

I wanted to come up with a different twist on their team highlight film. I noticed then, and had noticed earlier, that wherever the Cowboys played, you saw people in the stands with Cowboys jerseys and hats and pennants. Plus, they were always the national game on television.

I agree that they are NOT America’s team - no team or franchise can truly be that!

So for me, they are the most hated.

But this is very personal and in general it changes every year.

    Look at this years Patriots…

But all-time: Yankees, Cowboys follow… many others could be included, but in different time-periods over past decades.

Go global. Manchester United is the world’s most valuable sports franchise, est $$ two plus billion. As such, given the rabid, hell bent for leather fandom soccer enjoys in the world arena (esp Europe and South America), Manchester United is utterly desoised (or, by some, loved)- not unlike the Yankees here in the states, but magnified ten fold. Soccer matches- hatred of a team (like Manchester) incites riots, occasional fatalities, the necessity to stage events at certain times, i.e., not at night. Does this happen with the Yankees? Nope. People outright **** Manchester United because they are the penultimate have, and the have nots detest them for it.

Dallas is most certainly one of the most hated. Firstly, how do you go about calling yourself America’s team? Nobody with Terrell Owens on it would even rank 500th on a list of favorite sports franchises. Secondly, not only are Dallas grade-A chokers, but apparently Romo can’t handle playing football with a pretty woman in attendance. Throw them all in a blender, and it’s a recipe for a mountain of hatred.

NY Yankees are #1 most hated

I’d probably put Dallas Cowboys #2

No matter what team it is if you start winning too many years in row people will **** you. Doesn’t make any sense.

The sad truth is, EVERYBODY HATES GERMANY. The whole world detests their soccer team, particularly those people who have absolutely no interest whatsoever in any sport of any kind.

In the 2006 World Cup, only one team had to travel incognito to and from the stadiums where the games were being played– The US national team. So I’d say they qualify for a spot on this list as well.
    MLB Yankees
    NFL Raiders and Cowboys
    NBA Celtics and Lakers
    NHL Canadiens

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most hated teams for three reasons:

    (1) The on and off-field antics of many of the players, which really came to a head in the 90’s. Who can forget all of the drugs, arrests and hookers? And I don’t just mean Michael Irvin. The team had a reputation for having and signing players with questionable histories and attitude problems. And let’s not forget cockiness (Deion Sanders, anyone?).

    (2) Jerry Jones. Stay in the booth and off the sidelines - enough said.

    (3) The fans. Again, this came to a head in the 90’s when the team was doing very well and for some reason carried on into the early 2000’s. The fans were strutting around, all loud and obnoxious, shooting off their mouths like they actually had something to do with the team’s success. It’s was nice and quiet for a few years while the Cowboys were stinking up the joint.

There’s a funny shirt out there that says Jesus thinks Dallas ***** ( )

    Who can argue with Jesus?
