Does this mean he doesn’t have it in him?

dragonfly33mom asked:

My son is 11 yrs old. He played football for 4 years now as QB. He’s brought his team to Youth State Championships twice and Semi finals. He says he loves the game, but when he’s on the field or sidelines, he never seems crunk. He doesn’t seem like he really enjoys it but he says really does. He is pretty low key, doesn’t like attention and isn’t the kind that talks crap. Now, my husband just told me today that he feels that our son won’t make it as a QB in highschool b/c of his low key presence. Seems like he isn’t eager to play, he says. Now, please someone tell me what’s your opinion on this. Do you think that it’s natural for an 11 yr old to be this way in sports? Do you know of any football players pro or college that may have been this way as a child or now? I always try to motivate him and encourage him to do his best.

Okay he will not be a pro your one of those sports moms huh all over your kids to do well. What kind of parent says crunk are you a teenage mom or what. No he obviously doesn’t have a burning passion for football so let it be his choice.

There’s a lot of ppl that don’t show their emotion or love of the game through outrageous emotions and trash-talking. One example that comes to mind is Eli Manning, NFL QB of the NYGiants. He is definitely low-key and quiet and not the type to jump with joy or really show emotions. But he genuinely loves the game, and is the quiet but unanimous leader, who led them to a Super Bowl victory.

Just ask him what he wants. If he says he likes it, trust him.

The QB position takes a lot of thinking. Usually deep thinkers are more quiet cause they are watching, analyzing, and just thinking ahead.

I think Tom Brady is a pretty low key guy and he may be one of the best of all time.

Half the pro QBs are pretty low key and the other half are like Bret Farve and play with pure emotion.

Aughh! Your son is 11 years old. He’s supposed to be having fun. You and your husband are supposed to be there cheering for him win or lose so long as he does his best. You two are not supposed to be worrying about his future career as a HS or NFL quarterback. Will his attitude change? Did your attitude about things change from the time you were in 6th grade until 9th grade? Did they change from 9th to 12th? From 12th grade to graduating college?

Let your son be an 11 year old kid and quit stressing.
