The Men’s Olympic Volleyball Tournament was held at the Peace and Friendship Stadium located at the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex from August 15 to August 29, 2004.
The twelve competing teams were split equally into two pools of six teams. Each team played all other teams in their pool with the winning team gaining 2 points and the losing side 1 point. The top four teams from each pool progressed through to the quarter-finals.

You can use the inverted pyramid style of writing. This is commonly used in hard news. Arrange details from most significant to least because readers can tend to just read the first parts.
Start with a LEAD. Here, state all the important details (5W’s + 1H). One sentence will do. Just state everything frankly.
Next, continue with the DETAILS. Add more info on your lead. Start being in-depth.
Later, ILLUMINATE or give light to your story. If you were able to get the view/opinion of some concerned, include that. You could also cite the reactions of the people in the event.
Lastly, it is optional to add a BACKGROUND. Have a 1-2 sentence which could explain a link between your story and other news. For example, you can say that the tournament was part of some larger event or the like.
Good luck!
