Can my parents avoid insuring me on the sports car?

Ok, so I just turned 16 and grabbed my license. Now, my parents want to avoid insuring me on the miata, because they are predicting it will being very expensive (you know the whole young male sports car, blah blah blah), is it possible for them to only insure me on our accord and outback, as long as I will not drive the Miata, the only time i ever drive it is when i am with them, will this be effected?
