Serious Facts On Swimming Laps At Home

Published by admin under Swimming Diving

Swimming, as we all know, is one of the best exercises you can do for your body. Swimming laps gives you a great heart workout, and assists in keeping your muscles toned. Swimming works every muscle in your body, which can also help you to burn calories. For many people throughout the United States, swimming is simply the best way to stay in shape and have fun doing it.

Although swimming is a lot of fun and a great way to exercise, it can be quite a chore going down to the local pool. The hours will vary from pool to pool, meaning that there are only certain times of the day and the week that you can go. To make matters worse, the lanes are normally crowded, making it hard to get a proper workout. Crowded lanes can make swimming a pain, particularly if there are lots of folk around who are doing nothing apart from standing in the water.

If you like swimming laps but hate going to your local pool, you should look into getting a lap pool for your home. Lap pools are a welcome addition to your house, with the only real difference in a lap pool and home pool being the shape and size. Rather than the conventional kidney shape that home pools are renowned for, lap pools are thin and long, giving you masses of room to swim laps.

With the shape being long and narrow, you can easily keep track of just how many laps you have swam. Lap pools are normally just a few feet deep, meaning that divers shouldn’t invest in them. They are intended for those who love to swim laps, lacking toys such as diving boards and slides, as the water isn’t deep enough. Although they’re meant for hardcore lap swimmers, they’re still ideal to leap in on a sunny day and just cool down.

Lap pools are below ground pools, as you might already know. They need a lot of digging for installation, and can cost a few USD too. The prices will vary from area to area, although most top out around $30,000. This is extraordinarily pricey to say the least, though if you swim each day, you can simply make your cash back if you count how much you spend going to the local pool.

If you simply do not have the money but need to swim laps at home , you need to look into a swim spa. These spas look like a spa of sorts, though you won’t need to dig up any of your yard to install them. They work similar to a treadmill, using an alterable current that pushes you back, so you keep swimming in almost the same place. You can get quite a bit of exercise using a swim spa, and it doesn’t take up a lot of room either.

Swim spas might be less expensive than lap pools, though they aren’t less expensive than conventional below ground pools. They are still relatively new, and can be somewhat hard to find. More and more pool companies are including them though, so it may be just a matter of time before they come to your area. You must contact your local company if you’re interested, as they can be virtually impossible to maintain yourself.

With a lap pool or swim spa, you can swim as many laps as you like at home. These types of pools are ideal for swimmers everywhere, and they can keep you as healthy as you like. If you are interested in a lap pool or swim spa , simply contact your local pool company and get the ball moving - you will be happy you did when you’re swimming at home and not the local swimming hole.

Swimming On Freestyle Strokes

Published by admin under Swimming Diving

Freestyle swimming is also called as the sidestroke or front call. This style is used primarily in competitions although there is no fixed regulation on how to swim. Freestyle strokes are just used by swimmers on competitions because this is the fastest technique. It is best to use for terms of speed. If you want to know how to do swimming on freestyle strokes, here are the steps for it.

First of all, you need to imagine and visualize that there is a line that is running down the center of your body starting from your chin to the chest. This specific line will be like the axis upon which your body should revolve. It needs to be extended horizontally in the direction that you are swimming.

Second step is to keep your legs straight at all times. Your toes need to be pointing out as you kick up and down. Continue kicking but avoid not curling your feet. Just leave them straight so that you will swim faster in a straight line. Try not to get your feet rigid while keeping it straight as possible.

Move your arms like a windmill movement that is opposite to each other. One arm is extended entirely while the other one is in the back. Always keep your hands flat as your thumb is separated from your finger and then pull the extended arm into the water right beneath your body. And then, bend your arm at your elbow while drawing your fingertips along the imaginary straight line just right down the center of your body.

After that, lift your other arm out and then move it all the way forward while it moves to the water. The first arm will be pulling beneath you. Again, bend at the elbow and then drag your fingertips along the water’s surface. Work it through the water using your fingertips while extending your arm completely.

While you are swimming with the freestyle strokes, breathe on one side and then turn your head on the other side as the arm comes out from the water. Don’t forget to stretch each stroke out as much as you can without trying to pause from your arm movement. Try to remain with your horizontal positing in the water. Strong kicks will keep your legs from sinking on your behind so you need to practice to add more strength to your kicks.

Some swimmers create splashes when they kick. You need to avoid this and rather just chum on the surface of the water.

Remember all these steps for you to properly swim on freestyle strokes.

How Swimming Pool Covers Can Protect Your Pool And Save You Money

Published by admin under Swimming Diving

If you own a swimming pool then you know how much fun and happiness they can bring.  On a hot Summer’s day being able to take a dip is a great way to cool off and splash around with your friends and family.  It is also a great way to get regular exercise and to teach your children to swim.

When you have your own swimming pool it requires regular maintenance to ensure its upkeep and pools can also pose a number of safety risks.  It is for this reason that swimming pool covers can help to save you a lot of time and money as well as helping to keep your family safe. There are many reasons as to why you should invest in swimming pool covers but here are three of the best.

1. Reduce The Cost Of Heating Your Pool -  Solar swimming pool covers are a great idea as they are designed to heat the pool using heat from the sun. They do this by reducing the amount of heat that is lost as a result of the water on the surface evaporating. On average a pool loses 90% of its heat through surface water evaporation and a solar pool cover will help to prevent this from happening. As the pool loses less heat it means that less effort is needed to heat the water, which should help to reduce the amount of energy used to heat it.

2. Prevent Your Pool From Becoming Dirty - It is important to cover your pool when you aren’t using it to prevent rubbish, leaves and any other unwanted debris from falling in to the water. Spending a lot of time using a net to fish debris out of a pool can be a frustrating experience and if you don’t do it you can end up with all sorts of problems. Using your swimming pool cover regularly will make it easier to clean and will mean that you don’t have to do it so often.

3. Protect Your Kids And Animals - Once the Summer months have gone it will be time to shut your swimming pool down for the winter and it is a sensible idea to invest in a winter safety cover to make sure nothing falls into it. Winter safety covers have webbing straps that have been reinforced so they can take a lot of weight and protect your pool during the winter months. Therefore a safety cover will prevent a pet or animal from drowning by supporting their weight.

Swimming And Muscular Strength

Published by admin under Swimming Diving

Just like any other form of exercise, swimming helps increase the endurance and strength of your muscles at the same time. Depending on how fast or how slow you swim, you can simply build-up the strength of your muscles or you can have a good cardiovascular work-out in addition to building muscle endurance. All the muscles in your body become engaged each time you swim. Every resistance that your body receives as your body movement comes into contact with the pool water increases the endurance and strength of your muscles. You will soon obtain a fit and lean body regardless of how many laps or how fast you swim within a day.

However, fitness experts claim that swimming alone is not enough to increase muscular strength and endurance of the entire body. This is because swimming mostly concentrates on the upper part of the body and not too much on the lower part. In addition, since swimming is a low-impact exercise it is not a terrific exercise for maintaining bone density but it is great as a rehabilitation exercise.

Fitness experts recommend that individuals who are interested in increasing their muscular strength should do land-based strength and weight training exercises, namely tricep kick backs, wide arm press-up, bench press, shoulder press, reverse fly, one-arm row, breast stroke, normal fly, lateral raise, biceps curl, lateral raise, close arm press-ups, and tricep dips. The other exercises include side-leg raise, wall squat, front raised lunge, standing rear squat, toe touch opposite hand, one-leg squat, moving squats, deep squats, static adductors, pulsing hip extension, pulsing abductors, and bent leg raises.

Always keep in mind to properly warm-up before beginning a series of exercise or even swimming techniques. Exercise routines in addition to swimming should be performed for a minimum of two times a week. Individuals, usually beginners, who perform these exercise routines would surely feel sore the next day. Allow your body to recover by taking a day off or two days off from the exercise regimen if needed.

Make sure at all times that the swimming pool has been treated using swimming pool and spa chemicals and that the appropriate time has passed before you embark on your swimming routine. Pool chemicals are utilized in both the public and private swimming pools to make the water and the pool itself safe for use. Pool filtration systems are also used to clean and maintain the pool but swimming pool chlorine tablets are the main reason why you can safely swim in the swimming pool.

The Positive Effects Of Swimming On Cardiovascular Endurance

Published by admin under Swimming Diving

If you want to exercise but are not truly fond of land-based exercise per se, why not try swimming as an alternative. Exercising in water is ideal for individuals interested in starting an exercise regimen because water allows the body to become buoyant.

Cardiovascular endurance gets a healthy boost from any kind of exercise including swimming. It increases the heart rate and blood circulation. {As the muscles in your body begin working out they need more and more oxygen which requires a faster heart rate for the additional oxygen to be delivered to the muscles.} Interested to try out a different water exercise aside from swimming? Water jogging is just as interesting too. Water jogging helps toughen your leg muscles and improves your cardiovascular health.

You first need to get used to water jogging, which is why you need to stay at the shallow portion of the pool. Be sure that the water reaches slightly above your waist or up to your chest when you are standing straight. Begin jogging in place with your knees slightly bent during the process. If you want, you can hold onto the ledge for support. Water based jogging can easily tire you out compared to land-based jogging because of the presence of water resistance, which is why you should start with at least 5 minutes of water jogging.

Soon enough your body will adjust to the exercise and soon you can increase the amount of time that you spend water jogging. Performing the same routine at the deeper portion of the pool where your feet do not touch the pool’s bottom is also advisable. For additional pool work-outs, purchasing or borrowing water weights is recommended.

You don’t even have to use “I don’t have a pool in my backyard” as an excuse, there will surely be a public pool near your location. There is a big chance that there is a public swimming pool that you can regularly visit. After you’ve found a swimming pool near you the next question you need to answer is when is the right time to go there? The greatest time is always mid-day. Mid-day is usually the time where there are lower numbers of people and the pool has already been well-treated with swimming pool chemicals.

Using swimming pool and spa chemicals to decontaminate and clean public swimming pools is actually a necessity because of the high number of people using it throughout the day. It is highly advisable that the swimming pool be treated with swimming pool chemicals early in the day, preferably way ahead of the pool’s opening time, so that the appropriate amount of time has elapsed before people are allowed to safely use the pool.
