    Just a few I remember:

    Mark Spitz winning seven gold medals in the 1972 Olympics.

    UCLA Bruins basketball team’s 88 game winning streak including undefeated seasons in 1971-2 and 1072-3.

    Hank Aaron passing **** Ruth for the all-time home run record.

    The death of Roberto Clemente in a plane crash taking aid to Nicaragua.

    1972 Munich Olympics…Terrorists overtake Olympic Village and kill several members of the Israeli Olympic wrestling team. Mark Spitz wins 7 swimming gold medals.

    1976 Montreal Olympics….Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci becomes first gymnast to record a perfect 10 and dominates gymnastics competition scoring several other perfect 10’s.

    1970-1979…Chicago Cubs go yet another DECADE without winning a World Series….or a division title…or have a record over .500!
