a sports car now is wide range of vehicles from 2 door 4 door 5 door… so to me if i had to choose a 6 cylinder sporty car i would go either infiniti g35, bmw 5 series, or audi tt quattro coupe

You make no mention of price… For what it’s worth Nissan’s V6 has been on Wards best engine list for like 13 years or so… No other engine has ever had such a long rating.

I would suggest waiting for the 2010 Chevy Camaro. It will start at 22,000 dollars and have a 300 horsepower Direct-Injected V6 standard. It also gets 27 MPG. It can run with a lot of other V8 cars like the Mustang GT and Challenger/Charger R/T. It’s awesome.

For older cars, I would recommend an older model Nissan Maxima. Just make sure it has the ‘4DSC’ Moniker.

For the sake of this discussion, let’s define a sports car as a two-door two seater with a power-to-weight ratio below 15 to 1 and availability of a transmission that requires some type of driver input while motoring.

The list of candidates with 6-cylinder engines that meet those requirements is short. Porsche models with the exception of the Cayenne and the upcoming Panamera meet the requirements, as do the Nissan 350Z, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLK and any 2008 BMW Z4s which remain in inventory.

For sheer performance, your local Porsche dealer has one-stop shopping. Nissan’s the pick for those on a budget, and the Z4 and the SLK are the choice for fashionistas.
