When sports athletes says I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, do they actually mean it?

Published by admin at 11:43 am under Religion & Spirituality

Andre J asked:

Do they actually believe that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior?

Why do they say it, when they get interviewed and they won something in sports?

Is Jesus Christ the world’s Lord and Savior?

What do you think about them saying that?

Does it make you happy when they say that?

    Better than not.

    1. I’m sure some of them do.
    2. They’re probably religious and don’t want to seem too “proud,” since they think it’s a sin.
    3. Not by a long shot.
    4. That’s their personal choice.
    5. I’m indifferent.

Of course they mean it! Then they show their sincerity by shooting themselves, or others, in crowded night clubs.

They think it makes them look humble when in fact there is nothing more selfishly absorbed than an athlete.

Who knows what they believe and what they are doing just for show. They are fools if they think God or Jesus has anything to do with them winning, or their ability. No, Jesus and god are both made up stories used to control people. I think they are dumb for giving god or jesus credit for something they obviously did. No, it does not make me happy to hear them say that. It makes me think less of them. They are probably saying just to look good, because everyone thinks it is so “cool” to be christian. JMO

They say it because they believe that they have the ability to do what they do because of their belief in Jesus their Lord and Savior. I think when it is said it is because He is your Savior and you truly do believe in Him.
Yes it makes me happy when I hear someone thank the Lord. I think Amen, God has blessed you and you see that your gift comes from Him and without Him in your life you know that you would be nothing.

That they believe that their win is due to some divine interference play/run.

as if any god would care about some random sporting event….
if a god is actually there he’s likely busy with sick kids or some more important business, or at least he/she should be….

    1. Yes. More than most people in the world.
    2. You just asked that!
    3. Who do you think gives them the award?
    4. Yes. Dumb question.
    5. It’s admirable and that’s why some of us love sports.
    6. Always.

What they really mean is: “Thanks for micro managing a bunch of millionaires playing sports, and not wasting time on the war, disease, famine and poverty in 60% of the world.”

I can not see into theIr hearts but I would say that they do believe it. It is not easy to stand on national TV and say something that commits you to God when most of those around you curse God on a daily basis and live as if there is no God.

They say this when they are interviewed to give God credit for what God has given them.

Yes, Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world but you must be willing to accept His gift of salvation just as you must accept any gift. Just as with many gifts, there is a responsibility involved in accepting this one. It is a life changing gift.

I think it is a wonderful thing that they do this. It sure is easier to listen to then the brutality that we hear about on a daily basis.

Yes, it makes me very happy when I hear them. This world needs more Christians to stand up for God. We have enough people standing up for satan

    Matthew 21

28But what think ye? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in my vineyard.

29He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went.

30And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not.

31Whether of them twain did the will of his father?

…He who watches His field at all times can know who is actually doing His work…others can only guess, luv

i really dont care if they say it or not it means they believe jesus is their lord and savior thanks for the 2 points though

  14. Sweet Loraineon 18 Nov 2007 at 12:59 pm

lol Depends on what he’s thanking Him for. For winning? I doubt Jesus cares about that. It wouldn’t mean that he prayed the hardest so he won, lol but There’s no reason to think that athlete’s have any different beliefs than anyone else.

Yes it makes me happy cause I feel like they wouldn’t be saying that if they didn’t mean it. Like they don’t have to say that. Jesus Christ is the world’s Lord and Savior.

    In this order:
Yes, because they love me (I’m Jesus), Yes, I don’t mind, Definitely.

If they say it then at least they want to be counted among the true believers and if they have that desire and hold to it sooner or later it will happen. blessed are those who hunger for the righteousness of God for they shel be full filled..

  18. daleschmalzon 27 Nov 2007 at 6:16 pm

    Many do.

Timmy Tebow is a college football player who spent much of his earlier life being a missionary, preaching the gospel of Jesus to the world, a lot in the Philippines.
