When you major in sports medicine do you get hands on experience?
tia j asked:
I’m in 11th grade and in sports medicine. At my school we go with the football team to games to get hands on experience. I wanted to know is it the same in college

When I was in college long ago, we did not have a sports medicine major but we did have a class in athletic training (same idea, just very basic) which I took. We learned a lot of exercise physiology, what to do to prevent injury, and how to treat injuries on the sports field. After the class I was encouraged to apply for a student trainer position with the football team (rare opportunity for a female student in those days!) but I was graduating and would not have been there in the fall. We did get some hands on experience with various athletic teams. Now that schools have full majors in this field, I am sure students are used to assist trainers with varsity and other level sports teams.
